About CPMA
Serving the produce industry since 1925
Based in Ottawa, Ontario, the Canadian Produce Marketing Association (CPMA) is a not-for-profit organization representing companies that are active in the marketing of fresh fruits and vegetables in Canada from the farm gate to the dinner plate. CPMA members include major grower/shippers/packers/marketer, importer/exporters, transportation, brokers, distributor/wholesalers, retailers, fresh cuts and foodservice distributors/operators, processor integrating all segments of the fresh produce industry. CPMA is proud to represent over 690 international and Canadian members who are responsible for 90% of the fresh fruit and vegetable sales in Canada at an annual estimated value of $8 billion Canadian dollars. CPMA is funded by the industry through voluntary membership and various services, activities and sponsorship programs.
CPMA's vision is to increase the market of fresh fruit and vegetables
in Canada by encouraging cooperation and information exchange among
all segments, at the domestic and international level, of the produce
industry. The CPMA focuses on seven key areas:
Marketing and Promotion

Educating the general public on the health benefits
of eating fresh fruits and vegetables, through the " 5 to 10
a day for better health" program which has a brand awareness
of approximately 52% nationwide. 5 to 10 a day for better
health has over 46 million dollars worth of national television
exposure, national magazine coverage, web site support and regional
health professionals involvement. |

Educating the consumers of tomorrow through our
childrens newsletter, Freggie Tales, and website. |

Working in cooperation with regional produce association
programs to better support
the industry.

Developing critical performance measurement tools
and statistics |
Networking
 |
Providing CPMA members with an opportunity to
network with over 4000 industry leaders at CPMAs Annual
Convention and Trade Show, Canadas premier produce event. |
Food Safety
 |
Maintaining its efforts regarding the development
and implementation of national, HACCP and HACCP-based food safety
standards and guidelines for the produce industry. |

Providing educational products for industry, media,
and government on food safety. |

Updating crisis management programs.. |
Health and Nutrition
 |
Developing and enhancing educational materials. |

Assisting industry on labelling. |
Industry Efficiency Technology
 |
Coordinating the produce industry efficiency issues
which impact on produce movement throughout the supply chain
including produce coding, traceability and E-Commerce. |

Continuing participation on national and international
committees and task forces to ensure international solutions
for produce efficiency standardization issues. |

Educating the industry relative to industry efficiency and
technological change. |

Providing industry input to initiatives led by
government and standardization organizations. |
Government Trade Relations

Working at the harmonization, or development of
mutual recognition of government regulations within, into and
from Canada |

Monitoring government legislative and regulatory
action to minimize commercial and administrative impacts to

Education and Training

Providing training programs to industry on technical
issues, merchandising, labelling, etc. |
