Health and Nutrition

Healthy and nutritious fresh produce is important to our members and Canadians as a whole.  The manner in which we inform, communicate and promote the positive health and nutritional benefits of our products is impacted by various external factors such as availability of resources, ability to communicate positive messages, regulatory compliance and legislative proposals.

Collaborating with key partners including the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada and the Canadian Cancer Society, CPMA works to promote the importance of fresh fruits and vegetables as part of a healthful diet through the development of educational materials for the public on the health and nutritional benefits of eating five or more servings of fruits and vegetables a day. Other activities include assisting members to develop nutrition labelling and information packaging to raise awareness of consumers.

In this section of the CPMA website you will find information on produce selection, availability and storage. There are also several fact sheets, recipes and ideas on how to include 5- 10 servings of fruits and vegetables in your daily diet.
