The CPMA’s National Foodservice Committee supports the foodservice trade by encouraging the increased use of fresh produce in prepared meals. The NFC is working to ensure it is able to support the industry’s needs and report on the trends and activities in this sector. The NFC looks into the regional differences in foodservice growth, and attempts to address some of the challenges encountered with fluctuating tourism traffic as well as a sluggish economy and employment challenges. Foodservice is affected by high gasoline prices and interest rates, which can place limits on consumers’ disposable income, as well as unpredictable weather and pandemic scares, which tend to have a negative effect on tourism and on the foodservice industry.
