Manager, Health & Education

Accountability: Vice President, Marketing & Events
Salary Range: $70,100 to $90,000

Position Summary

Reporting to the Vice President, Marketing & Events, the Manager, Health & Education will be responsible for supporting the Association’s consumer facing programs and associated health promotion programs, the CPMA Passion for Produce (PFP) program and delivery and development of new industry educational programs to support the efforts of the fruit and vegetable industry in Canada. The role will also work to collaborate and liaise with internal and external partners to identify industry needs, community needs and development opportunities that support CPMA members.

Position Responsibilities

Health Promotion and Advocacy

  • Develop strategies and materials with the Vice President, Marketing & Events for various targeted government ministries and programs (municipal, provincial, federal and regional industry groups where appropriate) in association with assigned files.
  • Liaison with necessary government departments as required to address the areas within the Manager’s responsibilities.
  • Promote all CPMA consumer programs to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Respond to consumer inquiries.
  • Support government relations team on nutrition and labelling issues, as required.

Education (Industry and Community)

  • Support the development of educational tools and programs to expand CPMA programs that include Half Your Plate, within the health community (RDs, medical professionals, health units) and other targeted programs to support CPMA’s goal to increase produce consumption and providing education for the produce industry.
  • Deliver the Passion for Produce program annually and support the PFP alumni, young professionals’ and women in produce education programs.
  • Support CPMA led industry education programs as required, including webinars and workshops.
  • In collaboration with the Vice President, Trade and Market Development, the Manager will support strategies and revenue models for all educational offerings.
  • Working with the CPMA team, develop and coordinate an annual podcast series.

Budgets and Administration

  • Work with Vice President, Marketing & Events to develop and manage budgets for areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure CPMA’s website and Half Your Plate content is kept updated and current on the areas of responsibility.
  • Collaborate with CPMA Committees as required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Registered Dietitian designation and membership with provincial College (in good standing).
  • Experience in giving presentations and speaking to the public and industry about health and nutrition.
  • Able to work with a multi-dimensional industry, including traditional and non-traditional food system partners.
  • Team building skills and ability to build relationships with colleagues.
  • Experience in the food service, retail or food industry an asset.
  • Able to work flexible hours and travel.
  • Business acumen and sales/marketing experience is an asset.

Languages

  • Fluently bilingual (English and French).

Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a health professional role is considered an asset.
  • Experience in education program development for industry based stakeholders.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing external relationships including industry, consumers and other professional associations.
  • Experience working with government, public health, regulations and produce industry stakeholders would be considered an asset.
  • Understanding and experience using social media platforms and educational tools such as podcasts etc.
