CPMA Government Issue Management (CGIM) Industry Committee

Committee members will consider and provide input to resolution of barriers to trade and guidance to facilitate the marketing of fresh fruits and vegetables in Canada on issues relevant to government relations including: customs, plant health, pesticides, labelling, organic/growing methodologies, food safety, health and nutrition, sustainability, fair and ethical trading practices, and transportation.

Criteria for Participation:
  • Issue management experience within the produce industry an asset
  • Experience in government relations or advocacy and asset
  • Demonstrate leadership , analytical and critical thinking
  • Members must be responsible (specifically or broad based) for issues related to government relations as noted above.
  • Participate in the broader CGIM Working Group.
  • Be willing and knowledgeable to “champion” the issue/ask as outlined by the Committee.
Time/Travel Commitment:  The Committee typically meets four times a year in May and November in Ottawa and in conjunction with CPMA’s Annual Convention & Trade Show and Semi-Annual Board & Committee Meetings.  Ad hoc conference calls or meetings may be convened as required.

CPMA Industry Technology Advisory Committee (CITAC)

CITAC members guide CPMA efforts in supply chain technology including product identification, data synchronization and traceability.  CITAC provides a forum for strategy development to achieve sector-specific solutions to supply chain issues impacted by industry technologies.

Criteria for Participation:
  • Members must have expertise in supply chain efficiencies which impact the produce industry (e.g. produce identification, data synchronization, EDI, traceability).
Time/Travel Commitment:  The Committee typically meets twice a year at CPMA’s Annual Convention & Trade Show and Semi-Annual Board & Committee Meetings.  Ad hoc conference calls or meetings may be convened as required.

Education Committee

Committee members guide CPMA efforts to develop and deliver a quality educational program for CPMA members.  The main goal of education efforts is to address education needs and issues related specifically to the industry supply chain and CPMA membership.

Criteria for Participation:
  • Experience in education, career development or other specific skills to support industry education and training.
  • Members should be responsible for, or have input to, education for their organization.
Time/Travel Commitment:  The Committee typically meets twice a year at CPMA’s Annual Convention & Trade Show and Semi-Annual Board & Committee Meetings.  Ad hoc conference calls or meetings may be convened as required.

Food Safety Committee

Committee members consider and offer expertise on all issues impacting food safety for CPMA members guiding decisions on areas of focus, issue management and strategic engagement in other efforts including government consultations and stakeholder collaboration.

Criteria for Participation:
  • Members should have food safety expertise responsibility for food safety within their organization.

Marketing & Promotions Committee

Committee members provide guidance for CPMA consumer outreach programs including the Half Your Plate and the Freggie™ Children’s Program.  The Committee provides strategic direction and program development support.

Criteria for Participation:
  • Members should have knowledge of marketing tools and approaches.
  • Provide leadership and direction related to program development.
  • Be a sound strategic thinker.
  • Understand or work in direct to consumer marketing, media relations, merchandising, produce sales, health and nutrition.

Member Services Committee

Committee members will support the association membership by leveraging existing knowledge of the sector and utilize annual surveys of members to ensure superior ROI, which enables strategies to improve the member experience.  This basis of knowledge will allow the committee to provide the CPMA with clear guidance on plans, strategies, and tactics regarding recruitment and retention of members.

Foremost, they are ambassadors for the Association and promote the values of CPMA membership.

Criteria for participation:

  • Knowledge of the produce sector and companies operating across the entire supply chain
  • Be willing to “champion” CPMA throughout the industry
